This API is a robust backend service designed to simplify and automate the deployment of static websites and web applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing a seamless experience for users.
We implemented a comprehensive API using Fastify and TypeScript that handles the entire deployment lifecycle. It automates the creation and configuration of necessary AWS resources, including S3 buckets for file storage and CloudFront distributions for global content delivery. Users can upload website files via the API, and integration with AWS Route53 automatically creates CNAME records pointing a unique subdomain (e.g., `your-site-name.example.com`) to the provisioned CloudFront distribution. The API offers endpoints for creating, listing, retrieving status, and managing the deletion of deployments. A PostgreSQL database tracks deployment details, status, and events, and an automated background process handles the cleanup of AWS resources for deleted deployments.
